NATO and Azerbaijan are stepping up cooperation in the modernisation of military education, following a recent visit by alliance representatives to Baku.
From March 31 to April 2, officials from NATO’s Defence and Security Cooperation Directorate met with leadership and staff of Azerbaijan’s National Defence University and affiliated institutions to review ongoing реформы under the Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP).
During the meetings, Azerbaijani representatives outlined progress in updating training systems and academic structures. NATO experts are expected to continue supporting curriculum development, faculty training, and the alignment of English language instruction with NATO standards.
Efforts are also underway to expand digital learning capabilities across the military education system, including the development of a unified e-learning platform.
Further cooperation is planned in the development of the non-commissioned officer (NCO) corps, aimed at improving interoperability with NATO forces.
Azerbaijani officials say the partnership has gained renewed momentum in the current regional context, emphasizing its role in strengthening long-term defence capabilities.
