Alongside bilateral formats, the development of trilateral and multilateral cooperation is gaining particular importance in the region.
This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, during a panel session at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
According to him, countries of the region should independently shape the agenda and the architecture of cooperation.
“Non-regional actors should not set the agenda for us. We share a common responsibility. There are many brotherly nations in our region, and integration is essential,” he noted.
Hajiyev emphasized that international platforms play a significant role in times of global instability and turbulence:
“Such meetings are important for jointly discussing global challenges and problems.”
He added that for Azerbaijan, regional responsibility implies addressing regional issues without external interference, directly involving the countries of the region:
“We believe that we must solve our problems ourselves, together with our regional partners, and not allow approaches to be imposed from the outside.”
