
The World Bank has approved funding for a major environmental project focused on the Caspian Sea.
The “Greening the Caspian Sea” project will bring together Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan to combat pollution and protect biodiversity.
The Global Environment Facility will provide a $11.74 million grant, with an additional $8.24 million planned. A further $183,000 grant is allocated for project preparation.
The initiative aims to strengthen regional cooperation and support the implementation of commitments under the Tehran Convention.
