“French diplomacy is well aware that the International Court’s decision simply lists steps that Azerbaijan has already been taking. Our country ensures the rights of all people living on its territory, regardless of their ethnic and religious backgrounds. Azerbaijan has clearly stated its policy regarding the right of return for Armenians who have relocated from the Karabakh region.
Therefore, France’s intervention in this matter is inappropriate, unfounded, and provocative.
It would be preferable if France raised concerns about its own activities and the Armenian government, which has not even agreed to the theoretical return of displaced Azerbaijanis. By unconditionally supporting Armenia, France becomes complicit in its crimes against humanity, including the violation of the rights of Azerbaijanis to return.
The Western Azerbaijan Community will continue to expose France’s attempts to advance its vile neocolonial goals in the region, while abusing the highest value of human rights,” the statement concludes.
