In his address, he highlighted Azerbaijan’s recent advancements in healthcare and outlined major projects focused on improving public health.
Musayev emphasized that over the past 20 years, Azerbaijan has significantly strengthened its healthcare system. According to him, more than 700 medical facilities have been built or renovated, a result made possible through comprehensive reforms and enhanced healthcare funding. Additionally, the nationwide introduction of mandatory health insurance in April 2021 has laid a modern foundation for healthcare financing, expanding access to medical services for a greater portion of the population.
The minister also highlighted Azerbaijan’s environmental initiative, declaring 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.” In November, Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). As part of this event, Azerbaijan is launching the “Baku Initiative for Human Development in Climate Stability,” which aims to foster cross-sector collaboration in education, health, and employment to address climate change.
Musayev drew attention to the issue of landmine contamination in liberated regions of Azerbaijan, noting the adverse impact on resettlement programs and additional strains on the national healthcare system. In response, a psychological support project for returning citizens has been launched in partnership with WHO.
Concluding his remarks, Musayev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to the principle of “Health for All,” pledging continued efforts to ensure accessible, high-quality healthcare throughout the country.
