The ambassador stressed that small but important countries should be closer to each other to cope with new global challenges.
“Mayor of Bern H.E. Alec von Graffenried and me agreed on it in our speeches in event, dedicated to the Independence Day of Azerbaijan and 30th anniversary of establishing Azerbaijan-Switzerland diplomatic relations,” he said.
Isgandarov added that the event included a concert program featuring Karabakh mugham ensemble led by famous Azerbaijani singer Mansum Ibragimov and charming violinist Jeyla Seyidova.
“Another trend in World policy was demonstrated in concert programme: culture is uniting people, making their souls closer to each other.”
Azerbaijan and Switzerland cooperate in various sectors of the economy. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 21, 1992.
In the non-oil sector, Baku and Bern are enjoying an established mutually beneficial cooperation as well. The meeting of the Commission on Trade and Economic relations between Switzerland and Azerbaijan will be held in Baku in 2022.
The volume of trade between the two countries was $457.2 million in 2021, with export reaching $272.5 million and import $184.7 million.
