“We have already voiced our opinion as the International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. There is a statement of the committee regarding this resolution on the website of the Parliament. This statement addresses all the issues point by point. In particular, the adoption of the resolution is reflective of the influence of the Armenian financial lobby, the zeal of French MEPs, and corruption scandals in the European Parliament,” said Samad Seyidov, Chair of the International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, commenting on the anti-Azerbaijan resolution adopted by the European Parliament on January 18.
According to the chair of the committee, they are not surprised that the European Parliament adopted a resolution full of lies and slander against Azerbaijan.
“We have seen similar resolutions over the last 30 years. We are not bothered by this resolution just as we were not bothered by the previous ones. This is nothing more than a scrap of paper.
“I think that if such a resolution is adopted via a small special procedure, it shows, first and foremost, the current state of the European Parliament itself. They should be concerned that the authority of the European Parliament will plummet. As you know, the credibility of the European Parliament, shaken by corruption scandals, has already declined.”
According to Seyidov, the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation has created new realities in the region. These realities drive Armenians and MEPs elected with their funds out of their minds: “In this respect, this resolution does not surprise us. They know very well that the claims they make in it are untrue. And yet they want to convince the international community of their lies and slander. They will not succeed.”
