President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiha, according to a statement from the Azerbaijani presidential press service.
Andriy Sybiha conveyed greetings from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the head of state. He expressed gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine and emphasized the importance of projects being implemented in the city of Irpin.
Sybiha once again thanked Azerbaijan for its support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
President Aliyev thanked him for President Zelensky’s greetings and asked that his own greetings be conveyed in return. The head of state reaffirmed that Azerbaijan will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
During the conversation, it was noted that Azerbaijan and Ukraine consistently support each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The two sides exchanged views on the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, renewable energy, transport, trade, and agriculture.
According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the minister and the president held an open and detailed discussion on bilateral relations and also addressed pressing international issues.
“Special attention during the talks was given to ending the war in Ukraine and achieving a just and lasting peace.
Sybiha expressed gratitude to President Aliyev for his consistent support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, as well as for the humanitarian and energy assistance provided by Azerbaijan during the winter period,” the ministry’s statement reads.
They also discussed further steps toward advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
