It has been established that several international NGOs (COP29 Climate Justice Coalition and Demand Rights at COP) are conducting campaigns against Azerbaijan and preparing biased and one-sided reports as coalitions or small groups, reads a report of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary commission on countering external interference and hybrid threats, Report informs.
It is noted that almost all these NGOs and foundations have headquarters in Western countries, and their main donors are government bodies and institutions: “Some of them openly indicate their donors, some partially, and there are those who completely hide this information. Facts show that they are conducting a campaign against Azerbaijan using the same theses.”
The report emphasizes that the Demand Rights at COP coalition was created on September 11, 2024, and was joined by 33 NGOs and two individuals who addressed an appeal to the international community, full of bias against Azerbaijan. The report’s authors indicated that through open-source intelligence research, it was established that these ‘coalitions’ were artificially formed by the close circle of a person arrested in Azerbaijan for a specific crime.
“The activities and demands of these coalitions can be viewed as direct interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs,” the report states.
Additionally, it notes that although Armenia officially agreed for COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan, it has always conducted propaganda against Azerbaijan on all platforms: “This country raises issues unrelated to the climate conference, tries to create artificial tension and undermine Azerbaijan’s international authority. If initially and later, issues unrelated to COP29 were artificially raised, such as peace negotiations, peace treaty, release of persons who committed war crimes, recently it can be seen that Armenian officials often use the thesis ‘Azerbaijan will use COP29 to legitimize future escalation against Armenia’.”
