This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during an extended meeting with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.
He emphasized that “the Russian side values its allied relations with Armenia, the deep ties between the two peoples, and that a solid foundation has already been laid in all areas of interstate relations, which should be used wisely and to the fullest extent.”
“We continue to consider the security sphere one of the key dimensions of our alliance. We are ready to fully support the protection, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Armenia,” Lavrov said.
He noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the agreement on the deployment of the Russian military base, as well as the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Center.
Lavrov also promised Armenia support in the unblocking of regional transport links and in the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“Moscow is interested in the full normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.
According to Lavrov, Russia “sincerely strives for the resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations,” considering the trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan as a solid foundation for this process.
“You can always count on our support — both in matters of unblocking communications and in the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as in resolving humanitarian issues while taking into account the interests of all sides,” the minister stressed.
