Azerbaijan’s position regarding the crash of the AZAL aircraft is absolutely principled. This was stated by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, while speaking to journalists during a visit to the “Mother’s Cry” memorial on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
The minister noted that the measures voiced by the President of Russia during the meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia in October 2025 must be implemented: “The plane crash occurred due to the fault of the Russian Ministry of Defense. We expect that all necessary steps will be taken, a legal assessment will be provided, and compensation will be paid.”
According to the foreign minister, “at the highest level it was stated that Azerbaijan’s position on the AZAL aircraft issue is firm and principled.”
