President Isaac Herzog will represent Israel, according to The Times of Israel. He is expected to arrive during the second week of the event. Additionally, three ministers representing the ministries of environmental protection, energy, and transportation, along with dozens of officials, plan to attend.
As in the last two COP conferences, Israel will host its own pavilion, where 20 climate-focused startups will be showcased. Ten startups will be presented each week with the support of the Israel Export Institute.
The delegation has scheduled numerous events emphasizing the importance of regional and international cooperation. Presentations will feature representatives from organizations like Startup Nation Central, MASHAV (Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation), and the Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF).
Israeli representatives will also engage in events beyond their pavilion. For example, Rabbi Yonatan Neril, founder and director of the Interfaith Center for Sustainable Development, will participate in several interfaith sessions at the Faith Pavilion.
Gideon Behar, Israel’s Special Envoy on Climate Change, told The Times of Israel:
“We place great importance on our participation at COP. We cannot give the impression that the war has isolated us. We are part of the international community; we have a voice, we can influence, and we want to contribute to the global fight against climate change. We have solutions and technologies to offer.”
