President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev wished the citizens a happy Novruz on Friday.
“Dear fellow compatriots,
I wholeheartedly wish you a happy Novruz Bayrami, I wish you good health and happiness.
Novruz, a holiday with deep roots in the Azerbaijani land, holds a rightfully prominent place in the treasury of our nation’s cultural values. This national holiday embodies the rich inner world and optimistic outlook of our ancestors. Over the centuries, it has permeated the deepest layers of our existence, contributing to the formation of our national identity, becoming the bearer of our highest values, and always brought people together around a common morality.
At fateful moments in our history, we kept faith in the future thanks, among other things, to the spiritual power bestowed by this celebration of Spring. At a time when the world is being swept away by the wave of globalization, we cherish the traditions of Novruz and preserve them in all their diversity as an expression of our reverence for our centuries-old cultural heritage.
In high spirits of spring, boosted by our glorious Victory, we are now carrying out a large-scale reconstruction and creation work on our lands, which have been free for over a year. This holiday filled with the scent of spring inspires us to work with even more passion, to revive in a short time these ancestral lands breathing the air of freedom and return them to their former peaceful life.
On these festive days I honor with gratitude the memory of our brave sons who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our Motherland, and I send my greetings to the Azerbaijani soldiers who are bravely defending the country.
I am sure that our compatriots abroad are welcoming the spring with us in the light of the ideology of Azerbaijanism, which will strengthen the feelings of devotion to their homeland in their hearts even more.
We have serious challenges of national importance lying ahead of us. I believe that we all will demonstrate our determination to build and create with solidarity and enthusiasm in harmony with the revitalizing atmosphere of spring, and successfully implement our plan for the great return to Karabakh.
