He emphasized that the member countries cover a vast geographical area, demonstrate positive demographic dynamics, and have repeatedly proven their military potential in battles. Azerbaijan has always aimed to strengthen the Turkic world, enhancing its political, economic, and military power.
Aliyev also noted that the current structure of the Organization of Turkic States does not align with the set goals, and the budget is insufficient for their realization. In this regard, Azerbaijan has transferred 2 million USD to the OTS Secretariat.
Furthermore, Aliyev highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in the energy sector, including cooperation in renewable energy and energy efficiency. He outlined the Digital Silk Road project, aimed at creating a fiber-optic telecommunications route between Europe and Asia through the Caspian Sea.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev identified the expansion of the East-West transport corridor as one of the priority directions, reports “Azertac”. He noted the increase in the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from 1 to 5 million tons per year due to additional investments from Azerbaijan. Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan, with more than 50 merchant ships in the Caspian Sea, provides important transit services to Turkic states. Six new ships are being built at the Baku Shipyard, and next year, the 9th international airport in the country will be opened in Lachin. Additionally, the capacity of the Alat International Trade Port will increase from 15 to 25 million tons.
As part of the “Great Return” program, about 8,000 former internally displaced persons have already returned to Lachin, Fizuli, Shusha, Khojaly, and four villages. By the end of the year, 20,000 people are expected to return to the liberated lands.
