Representatives of the diplomatic corps, Azerbaijani and Turkish communities, local public and mass media attended the concert organized by the Association of Friendship, Culture and Solidarity of Azerbaijanis of Switzerland and the Zurich Council for Turkish Music with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
First, the audience paid their respects to the memory of the martyrs who had given their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and of the victims of the earthquakes in Türkiye.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland Fuad Isgandarov and Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Vagif Seyidbekov called the simultaneous celebration of the two historical anniversaries a momentous event.
The ambassador recalled a number of important historical events, and said that the great leader is the founding father of our modern state: “Azerbaijan and Turkey must always be together, both in difficult and in good times. Despite all the attempts of our hateful enemies, the destructive ordeals of nature, our main goal is to move Turkic unity forward, into an even more beautiful future.”
The deputy chairman of the committee pointed out that Azerbaijani diaspora organizations around the world organized a series of events dedicated to the prominent statesman Heydar Aliyev, and the Zurich event was one of them.
V. Seyidbeyov spoke about the work that the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and diaspora organizations carry out in close cooperation with Turkish communities and said that the basis for the systematic and structured efforts of our diaspora was had been laid by the outstanding political leader Heydar Aliyev, and this policy is being successfully continued through the recommendations, consideration and care of the President of Azerbaijan.
In the artistic part of the event, the choir of the Zurich Council for Turkish Music and Bülent Bezdüz, prominent Turkish operatic tenor and two-time Grammy Award winner, performed works by famous Azerbaijani and Turkish composers.
The choir and tenor Bülent Bezdüz performed such pieces as “Ölkəm” (“My Country”), “Ayrılıq” (“Separation”), “Neredesin Sen” (“Where Are You”), “Yəmən türküsü” (“Yemeni Turk Song”), “İncecikten bir kar yağar” (“A Gentle Snow Falls”), “Qubanın ağ alması” (“White Apple of Quba”), “Sənə də galmaz” (“None Will Be Left for You Either”), “Nazəndə sevgilim” (“My Flirtatious Beloved”), “Memleketim” (“My Homeland”) and others.
As part of the event, donations were collected for the victims of the earthquakes in Türkiye.
