According to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan, the two sides failed to reach any agreements, prompting a decision to postpone the next round of discussions until after the conclusion of the Jewish holiday of Passover (Pesach), which will continue throughout the following week.
The source also noted that Turkish authorities did not grant permission for the Israeli delegation’s military aircraft to fly through Turkish airspace en route to Baku. As a result, the aircraft had to bypass Turkey from the west, rerouting over the Black Sea.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that direct talks were held with Turkish representatives on Azerbaijani territory. The Israeli side expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for facilitating the meeting.
“Under the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a meeting took place on April 9 between a military-political delegation led by Israel’s National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi and representatives from the Ministry of Defense and security forces with their Turkish counterparts,” the statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said.
