According to a joint statement of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, following the talks with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on December 3 and 7, starting from December 10, 2022, a group of specialists of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Service for Property Issues of the Ministry of Economy and AzerGold JSC begin preliminary monitoring of illegal development of mineral deposits as well as environmental and other secondary impacts in the territories of Azerbaijan where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily deployed.
There are plans to conduct inspections of mineral deposits, particularly of the Gizilbulag gold ore deposit and the Demirli copper-molybdenum deposit, and monitoring in various areas, to carry out cadastral registration of property, to assess potential damage and risks to the environment and underground and surface water sources.
