The article highlights that current and former leaders gathered under this platform based on principles of solidarity, equality, and inclusivity, aiming to exchange views and find solutions to global problems.

It emphasizes that during the event’s opening, President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, welcomed over four sitting and 40 former presidents and prime ministers. “Compared to what we discussed in March last year, today we see significant changes, geopolitical changes,” he noted.

The viewpoint of the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, supported the Azerbaijani leader, calling for a “unified response” to global challenges: “Indeed, we live in unprecedented times. Much is happening. There is political instability, economic inequality, climate change, health challenges. Of course, education. We have social injustice. But these problems we face cannot be solved alone,” he said.

Euronews pointed out the theme of the event, “Fixing the Fractured World” emphasizing that this year’s forum echoed calls for modernizing outdated institutions and for global governance.

The article also notes that during the XI Global Baku Forum, there was substantive dialogue on global conflicts in various parts of the world, during which President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, stated: “Peace is priceless. We can do everything to increase our capabilities to ensure greater security on our continent. And, of course, I come from a very fragile region, and the situation with the war in Ukraine makes people there think more about cooperation and dialogue.”

Another participant in the forum, former President of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, remarked that the world has fundamentally changed over the past 70 years, “and we still live in a world with architecture that was designed long ago.”

Additionally, the event also discussed important topics such as artificial intelligence, innovation, and global health issues.

Deputy Director-General and Head of the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications at the IAEA, Najat Mokhtar, told Euronews that the world needs resources, data, and information.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), Winnie Byanyima, told Euronews that “currently, economies of countries are interconnected, and low-income countries are suffocating in debt, unable to afford healthcare for their people, education for their children, there is no system to achieve rapid debt restructuring and put the country back on its feet.” In her opinion, all these problems “can only be solved at a global level.”

The XI Global Baku Forum on the theme “Fixing the Fractured World,” held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the organizational support of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, took place from March 14 to 16. It was attended by representatives from a large number of countries, as well as influential international organizations, with over 350 guests from more than 70 countries worldwide.
