A new scientific study co-authored by an Azerbaijani mathematician has been published in a leading international journal, highlighting advances in the analysis of complex mathematical systems.

Rakib Afandiyev, head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Baku Engineering University, contributed to the research focusing on multiphase problems with variable exponents — a field within applied mathematics that deals with systems exhibiting changing structural properties.

The paper, published in the Q1-ranked journal Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems (Series S), examines the existence of weak solutions and the behavior of divergent sequences within these systems. Such work is considered important for understanding how solutions behave in complex functional spaces, particularly in models where traditional assumptions do not apply.

The journal is indexed in the Scopus database and is regarded as one of the reputable publications in applied mathematics.

The findings contribute to ongoing efforts to deepen theoretical foundations in the study of nonlinear and multiphase systems, with potential implications for various applied fields where such mathematical models are used.
