While the current delivery is a small-scale test shipment, Koretskyi emphasized that this is a strategically important step toward diversification and long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The gas will be delivered via the Trans-Balkan corridor — through the route Bulgaria–Romania–Ukraine. In early June, SOCAR signed a multi-year contract with the German state-owned company SEFE to supply 1.5 billion cubic meters annually. In 2024, Azerbaijan exported 12.9 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe.
