Azerbaijan and Mexico are stepping up efforts to develop economic and investment relations, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Mammad Talibov said in an interview with Canal6 TV channel, Report informs.
He noted that Baku and Mexico City have already established close cooperation in the sphere of culture, tourism and the climate agenda.
“Mexico took an active part in the COP29 climate conference in Baku. Now we are focused on finding projects and opportunities that can give new impetus to our economic and investment relations. We already closely cooperate in the sphere of culture and tourism, but we are considering ways to take more specific steps, because there are many areas where cooperation can be developed,” the diplomat noted.
Responding to a question about the possible role of Azerbaijan as a hub for Mexican companies interested in entering the Central Asian markets, Talibov emphasized that Azerbaijan has changed significantly over the past 25-30 years.
“Thanks to large-scale economic initiatives, Azerbaijan has managed to change the energy and transport map of the region. Today, it is a recognized major hub where a number of large-scale projects are being implemented. We have a developed infrastructure and a high level of security. It is also worth noting the presence of the Mexican embassy in the country. All these factors create a solid foundation for supporting the diversification of the Mexican economy – a task that is becoming especially relevant today,” Mammad Talibov added.
