In a response issued by MFA spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada, Azerbaijan rejected the accusations as distortions of reality and reaffirmed its commitment to regional peace.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has consistently reported and condemned border provocations by Armenian military personnel, some of which have been captured on video. The Azerbaijani side emphasized that stability in the region requires Armenia to cease such activities instead of making abstract and impractical demands. The statement also drew parallels between Armenia’s current rhetoric and the tactics used during its nearly 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories.
Regarding Armenia’s alleged commitment to peace, Azerbaijan questioned the sincerity of such claims in light of Armenia’s military buildup along the border, including the deployment of offensive weaponry. Azerbaijan also highlighted that it was the first to propose a peace agreement in early 2022, but Armenia had continuously delayed and obstructed the process. Despite Armenia’s efforts to complicate negotiations—such as its refusal to withdraw remaining forces from Azerbaijani territory—Azerbaijan has remained committed to peace.
Azerbaijan reiterated that a fundamental step toward lasting peace would be Armenia’s constitutional amendment to eliminate territorial claims against Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani side also called for the official dissolution of the Minsk Group and associated OSCE structures, describing them as obsolete and ineffective.
Furthermore, the statement condemned Armenia’s long-standing violations of international arms control agreements. It accused Armenia of concealing military hardware and deploying it unlawfully in Azerbaijani territories for nearly three decades.
On the issue of regional connectivity, Azerbaijan criticized Armenia for failing to fulfill its obligations regarding the opening of communication routes linking Azerbaijan’s western regions with Nakhchivan. Baku dismissed Armenia’s alternative proposals as impractical and diversionary tactics meant to delay the process. Azerbaijan urged Armenia to take concrete steps in line with new regional realities to enable the smooth opening of transportation corridors.
Despite these challenges, Azerbaijan reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing peace and vowed to counter any attempts to undermine the process.
