“For operational reasons, production and export from the SDA platform have been temporarily suspended, and the platform itself has been safely shut down. All personnel on the platform are safe, and no environmental impact has been recorded. All offshore facilities, including the SDA platform and the pipeline, are also in a safe condition,” the company stated, as reported by Trend.
BP noted that efforts are currently underway to fix the malfunction and resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
It should be noted that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today that Azerbaijan had informed Serbia about the suspension of daily gas supplies of 1.7 million cubic meters due to technical problems at the Shah Deniz field.
Earlier, for similar reasons, natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria were also suspended. According to Bulgarian energy operator Bulgargaz, gas deliveries have been temporarily halted for technical reasons as of January 7, 2025.
“The notification of the temporary suspension was received from the Azerbaijani supplier on January 6, 2025,” the company clarified.
The operator of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector (IGB), ICGB AD, stated that the pipeline is functioning at full capacity.
“We have also received a notification of a temporary and unscheduled suspension of gas supplies from Azerbaijan. At the same time, the ICGB infrastructure is fully operational and continues to service other client requests as usual. The issue is not related to our facilities, so the technical details that caused this situation are unknown to us,” the company stated.
