“We have exerted a lot of effort to bring the truth about the Khojaly genocide to the global community and rightfully demanded justice from the world,” said President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with representatives of the community of the Khojaly district.
“The Khojaly genocide is a bloody crime that occurred in front of the whole world. Denying the Khojaly genocide is unfair and shameless,” emphasized the head of state, noting that the state of Armenia, the same forces that stood then and stand today behind them, are doing everything possible to conceal what happened.
According to the president, the project of a memorial complex to perpetuate the memory of the victims of Khojaly has long been prepared, and the location has been chosen.
“However, I had some doubts every year about the construction of the memorial complex, so I postponed this event, this project. Because, just like you, I believed and knew that we would come back here, return to Khojaly, and a memorial complex would be erected here to perpetuate the memory of the innocent victims,” noted the head of state.
The president pointed out that, unfortunately, our call for ‘Justice for Khojaly!’ has remained unanswered.
Reminding that as a result of our efforts, 18 countries have recognized the bloody tragedy in Khojaly as genocide, the head of state noted: “But among these countries, there are no major powers. International organizations, many of them, have remained indifferent to this tragedy.”
