The international conference “Nonlinear Phenomena in Biology, Physics and Mechanics” dedicated to the 70th birthday of Professor Messoud Efendiyev, the first Azerbaijani scientist to receive the Humboldt Prize, Honored Scientist of Azerbaijan, Co-Chair of the World Azerbaijani Scientists Association, was received by the scientific community with great interest.
Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov, who attended the conference, wished the renowned scientist a happy birthday and spoke about his contribution to world science and his successful diaspora activities.
“Professor Messoud Efendiyev not only contributes to science, but he is also actively involved in diaspora work, rendering invaluable services in promoting our country, raising awareness of Azerbaijani realities in the international community,” the Chairman of the Committee said.
It was brought to the audience’s attention that the activities of our compatriots abroad, including Azerbaijani scientists with outstanding academic achievements, are under constant close attention of the President of Azerbaijan, and the importance of building networks of our scientists and using their knowledge and skills in the development of our science was emphasized. Training of highly qualified professionals abroad, establishing extensive ties with scientists living outside our country, involving them in diaspora work is one of the priority lines of the country’s policy, Mr. Muradov said.
The conference participants were given detailed information on the activities of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the establishment of 15 Coordination Councils in 36 countries, 20 Azerbaijani Houses in different countries of the world, as well as Karabakh and weekend schools, and the successful ongoing activities.
It was noted that holding of the first preparatory meeting of World Azerbaijani Scientists in Istanbul and the I Forum of Azerbaijani Doctors in Germany last year contributed to further strengthening of ties between our compatriots abroad.
The international conference was attended by the Minister of Science and Education, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, MPs, representatives of a number of government agencies, about 40 prominent scientists from different countries, university rectors, representatives of the diaspora, as well as the faculty and students of the University of Economics.
The event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Azerbaijani scientist was organized by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, the Ministry of Science and Education, and the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
The event, held at UNEC, will continue for 3 days. The conference will include discussions on various achievements in science and a number of meetings.
