“We urge all advanced humanity and the respective international organizations to make all efforts to prevent a potential new genocide and to defend all the fundamental rights of the Nagorno-Karabakh population. … The protracted blockade of the Lachin corridor has led to a growing humanitarian crisis that can turn into a humanitarian catastrophe. The shortage of essential commodities, food, and medicines has become tangible. In effect, the whole population of Nagorno-Karabakh has been deprived of the right to freedom of movement; thousands of people, including children, are stranded during the cold winter months, and many families have been forced to split finding themselves on different sides of the blockade,” says the statement of the Fund.
In short, lying is business as usual for Armenians. After all, this is the only way they know how to get their way.
Meanwhile, as political scientist and member of the Milli Majlis Rasim Musabayov told us, commenting on the situation, all the fuss the Armenians and their lobbyists are making is aimed at pushing Baku, through information and diplomatic pressure, to stop the civil activists’ rally on the Lachin road.
“There is no blockade in reality, but rather there is control to prevent the illegal entry of unwanted cargoes and persons. The Armenians do not want to accept this control, but their cries about the desperate situation of the alleged 120,000 people who are threatened with all but ‘genocide’ are not convincing. The attention to the Armenian statements declines every day, and if no provocation follows on their part, they will be forced to consent to the monitoring of the illegally exploited deposits, and to recognize Azerbaijan’s right to exercise certain control over the Lachin corridor,” the expert said.
According to the MP, the Khojaly airport can be opened only with Baku’s permission and only on the condition that Azerbaijani government agencies (border guards, customs officers, air navigation service) are posted there.
“Our civil activists have shown endurance and fortitude, and the Azerbaijani authorities have nerves of steel and a balanced diplomatic line. And such factor as the presence of our armed forces and Turkey’s support has a deterrent effect. There is no positive scenario for the Armenians, and the sooner their leaders realize it, the sooner the crisis caused by their unlawful and unfounded claims will be resolved,” Musabayov concluded.
