Asadov pointed out ties developing in “all spheres, be it politics, economy, energy, transport, culture, education, military and others”.
We support each other in the development of these areas […] Azerbaijan and Georgia always support each other at the level of international relations. We have always supported each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, Asadov said at the ninth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of the two countries, hosted in the Georgian capital.
The visiting PM also noted the meeting was a “good opportunity” to consider further development of the relations and expand areas of cooperation.
This year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, but the history of relations between [the countries] is as long as the history of our peoples and nations. Our peoples are united by centuries of neighbourly relations, mutual respect and friendly ties”, he said.
Asadov also highlighted the “successful economic relations” and said Georgia was one of Azerbaijan’s “main trading partners”. He noted the trade turnover between the states had increased by three percent this year and added there was “more potential” to further develop the connections.
