Opportunities to deepen the bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan in areas of mutual interest, including energy, economy and investment, were on the agenda during a phone call between Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev, Radev’s Press Secretariat reported here on Monday.
The Bulgarian Head of State commended the commitment of Azerbaijan and of President Aliyev personally for the fruitful partnership on the gas interconnector project between Bulgaria and Greece. Radev and Aliyev were unanimous that the project’s implementation contributes to increasing energy diversification not only for the region, but for the whole of Europe. The two discussed the potential for deepening cooperation in the import of natural gas, for exchanges in the field of technologies related to the production of green hydrogen as well as electricity. Agriculture, innovation, the automotive sector, culture and education were also highlighted as promising areas for development in the partnership between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.
President Radev reiterated his invitation to President Aliyev to visit Bulgaria in the coming months.
