«Unfortunately, a foreign company, Cronimet, was also involved in this ecoterrorism together with the Armenians. The yellow coloring of the water in the Okhchuchay has already been repeatedly published in the press, there are both photos and video footage. That is, all the wastewater from the copper plant operated in Armenia was discharged into the Okhchuchay without treatment. This is a crime, environmental terrorism. Who did this? The former leadership of Armenia. Because the shareholders of this copper plant are people close to the former leadership of Armenia, people who have family ties with them. We know that the operation of this copper plant was based on corruption schemes. Unfortunately, a foreign company was also involved in these corrupt practices,” the President stressed.
According to him, if an international company resorts to these sordid acts, the law enforcement agencies of the country where this company is based should step in.
“We have mentioned the name of this company several times and I can name it again today: Cronimet. Why has there been no reaction to this day? Why aren’t the German law enforcement agencies investigating this company? We have lodged an official complaint. We also asked Cronimet to come and eliminate the consequences of this environmental terrorism. There has been no response. There has been no response from law enforcement agencies. And we know how much attention is paid to the environment in Europe. We know that a warming by half a degree is now perceived as a big problem for the whole world, for Europe. The problem of climate change is now on the world’s agenda. But here it is obvious that the river, which originates from clean sources, is turning yellow. That is, samples taken from there, including those taken during the occupation, indicate this. The Armenian environmentalists were the first to raise this issue. They pointed out that there was a natural disaster taking place here. Of course, they were not friendly to Azerbaijan, they believed that these lands would forever remain in Armenia’s hands. So they raised the issue and blamed the former leadership, the criminal junta regime, Serzh Sargsyan and his relatives. They also have evidence in their hands. But was action taken? No. That is why our central executive bodies have now also raised this issue and are dealing with it. Of course, you, as my representative, should analyze all these issues in more depth and contribute to the work on compensations, the filing of lawsuits and legal actions. These are the main issues, this is the work that needs to be done at the initial stage, including mine clearance. Our relevant agencies are now dealing with this. And my representatives in these districts should be actively involved here to provide assistance,” the head of state said.
